Newton Ward 5 Constituent Services

Job #1 of a ward councilor is to help you resolve everyday problems when other city channels don’t work. It is always recommended that you call or use Newton’s 311 service to document problems for city staff, but you can also email bhumphrey at newtonma.gov if you have not heard back on your report for a while.

As your ward councilor, I have continued former Councilor Rice’s constituent services work by:

• Being available & responsive via phone, text, email, social media, and office hours

• Keeping residents up to date on city plans that affect them, such as road repairs, snow & waste removal changes, and development petition hearings or modifications

I work hard to answer most emails and calls the same day, and I have dropped by on home visits for some households who needed special assistance. (Newton’s 311 reporting system, as noted above, remains a better option in most cases because it automatically creates a record for city staff to work on.) I also email a local Ward 5 newsletter with detailed Council and community updates, from policy to road improvements, available here (with a subscription form here).
